Community & Medical Programs

Our community and medical programs are focused on supporting pet owners and reducing barriers to care, especially in under-resourced areas. The Pet Pantry program was created to support DC residents in caring for their pets by providing free pet food to those who indicate need. The food distributed is intended to supplement the pet's monthly food needs and to reduce the financial burden associated with pet care.
In addition, we are dedicated to providing affordable veterinary care to our community. By addressing the lack of accessible, affordable pet care in underserved communities, we work to keep pets in the homes they already have.
Pet Pantry provides thousands of pounds of free food, litter, and other supplies every month to pet owners in D.C. Through our monthly distribution events, we are able to help owners keep their pets in their homes. Volunteers assist with these distributions, as well as pre-packaging the food during Pet Pantry prep sessions.
Through our broader community and medical programs, we also offer low-cost veterinary services that help prevent illness, manage chronic conditions, and support general wellness. These services play a critical role in keeping pets healthy and with the families who love them.
